You know the problems when selling your boat – if you’re not fully aware please read our article “Problems selling your boat” first about some of the issues as you will then be able to see the case for Boats in Focus without hesitation!
Boats in Focus is a specialist internet marketing company that will target the selling of your boat over the internet. We don't just list a boat and hope for the best. It's not just about creating a mirco web site for your boat either. We use a dynamic and active process where we use web marketing techniques to bring qualified buyers directly to you.
We are not a broker. Boats in Focus don’t charge percentages (which on a typical Yacht or Cruiser may well reach £10,000 to £30,000 just for the brokers commission). We charge flat fees for the work based on what we actually do and the skills we bring to the table. We don't believe we should get a lucky windfall of extra cash just because you have worked hard and or been lucky enough to get an expensive boat. There's almost as much work selling a boat for £55,000 as there is for 2.5 million Is an extra £150,000 commission justified for selling the larger boat? We believe not. A fair charge for the work involved yes, but we don't believe in you having to pay more than you need to to sell your sailing yacht or your motor cruiser.
Our parent company has specialised for many years in internet marketing for small and medium sized businesses. They generate leads, enquiries, brand awareness and actual sales directly for clients. Each year we sell millions of pounds worth of goods and services for clients. The MD – Paul Duffield is a marketing guru in the true sense of the word. With over 35 years experience in direct marketing and technology there are few with the combined skill sets to deliver marketing through a high tech process.
Given that we sold millions for our clients like this the idea came about – Why don’t we sell individual items too? A £250,000 yacht is a years turnover for some small businesses. For many we do many times that figure.
With clients businesses we would normally create a good looking easily maintained website. Then we would optimise it for the internet – it’s no good having a great looking website if no one goes there to buy anything! Optimization is the specialist technique used to get good visibility on search engines like Google. If you’re site is found above all others then you stand a good chance of making the sale.
You can also accelerate the sales process but keep costs reasonable by using pay per click advertising. Set a budget with Google and they will give your site more visibility than straight forward links. (they are seen as “sponsored links” on Google and similar engines)
There is competition there too of course and it can take years to learn how to do it cost effectively. We have those years of experience and pass those techniques on to you when you employ us to make it happen! There are many companies out there claiming they can do it but we invite you to talk with our clients as we can prove we can do it.
Broadly we will create a website dedicated to marketing your yacht or cruiser. The price for that site varies depending on if you have video, blogs or non standard requirements. Typically though prices are between £1500 and £3000. That includes the initial optimization for the website too in order for it to get good visibility on Google and other search engines.
We provide designers, copywriters, programmers, website optimization specialists, dedicated hosting of the website and ongoing optimization and adwords management. We are not a one man band we have specialists for every aspect when marketing your yacht or cruiser.
Compare that cost to your brokers fee! If someone is searching, by way of example, for a “Moody 42” or “Yacht for sale 42ft” chances are we will find that buyer before the broker does and you will in fact sell your boat far quicker too. We recently sold a Moody 42 at significantly over market value with no brokers fees at all of course. Needless to say the prior owner already has just booked his new boat on with us so he can upgrade again quickly knowing he wont be losing out when he upgrades again.
Because of the saving on brokerage your price can be more competitive without it affecting your bottom line so you will in fact stand a better chance to sell than an equivalent boat at a brokers. (If indeed they even mange to sell it)
The site stays with your boat until it is sold. If it proves troublesome to sell we can step up the marketing to attract a wider interest until the right buyer is found. Frequently a boat will receive an enquiry within days of going live.
The new owner can keep the site know they can use it when they come to sell with the same benefits. (They will know it works as they have just bought your boat using a micro site from Boats in Focus!)
We host the site for you on our own secure servers and can even provide you with your dedicated email address for people to enquire on.
Sure it’s early days for us here at Boats in Focus but judging by the interest we are getting and the successes we are already getting it looks like this is about to explode and give a few brokers a run for their money!
We are not new of course to internet marketing – we have had many of our clients since the early days on the internet and worldwide web. They stay with us as we make them money we hope you will too for the first boat you sell with us and indeed every boat you sell through us.
We are always looking for agents and referrals too so if you have someone in mind that is having trouble selling their boat at the moment put them in touch with us on the contact form and we will register your interest in the sale and pay a referral fee of £150. for every boat referred when the book a site with us. You’ll be doing the owner a favour too so don’t worry about the commission – they should top it up really when the sale goes through given the extra money they will make!
